Prerequisites:C or better in Bios 3453 Genetics or Bios 4153 Molecular Biology or by permission. This laboratory course will introduce students to laboratory techniques such as recombinant DNA technology, quantification of macromolecules, light microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, RNA interference, and CRISPR using projects on eukaryotic model organisms. This laboratory course will prepare students to be contributing members of academic biological research, clinical, and biotech labs and to foster creative, critical thinking, and effective science communication skills. Two hours of lecture and 4 hours of laboratory.
