FA 3451 - Photography I School of the Arts
Laboratory - Credits: 3
Photography calls for careful observation, clarity of vision, technical knowledge and development of the craft. Students in this class will be asked to work hard at all four. Photo I is the first of three courses on photography, and as such it builds the foundation from which to continue on to advanced studies. This course honors the craft of analog camera techniques and darkroom printing, and the expectation is that students come with their own 35mm SLR camera. Hands on learning through class lectures and assignments will provide the student with ample opportunities to explore a variety of methods and genres to express themselves through the photographic medium. Discussion of theory and demonstrations on photographic practices, coupled with patience and hard work, will give new photographers tools to go beyond simply taking photographs to the art of making them.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: FA 2002 . Grading Basis: Graded Repeatable: No
