EES 3010 - Methods in Environmental Sciences College of Sciences
Lecture/Lab - Credits: 4
Prerequisites: EES 1002 , EES 1003 , or consent of instructor in lieu of one of the identified lecture and laboratory sequences. This course is designed to introduce students to the approaches and instrumentation used in the field by earth and environmental scientists to conduct their research. Course emphasizes the interpretation of maps and aerial photographs, the construction of geologic cross-sections, the measurement of geologic sections, the use of position locating systems and field instruments such as compasses, seismic systems and side-scan sonar. Consists of lecture and laboratory each week with excursions to collect data in the field, mapping assignments, time to work with instrumentation and data collection and interpretation.
