Earn a degree in Elementary Education grades 1-5 and pass the Praxis Exam Principles of Learning and Teaching (5621).
Requirements
A grade below “C” will not be accepted for candidates seeking Elementary certification.
The curriculum in Elementary Education has five components:
- general education,
- focus area,
- knowledge of the learner and the learning environment,
- methodology and teaching, and
- special education.

- The 9-hour General Education Science requirement includes a 6-hour sequence in one science selected from BIOS, CHEM, EES, and PHYS. 3 hours of the 9-hour requirement must be BIOS.
Second Year of Enrollment - General Education note: The General Education requirement may be met by completing other courses on the Gen Ed menu; however, Recommended courses must be completed to meet degree requirements if not completed as general education requirements and may be prerequisites for other required courses in the degree program.
